Kumquats
Kumquats, or “dwarf oranges“, are the smallest of the citrus fruits and the only one with edible skin. They are rich in vitamin C, flavonoids, and essential oils.
Nutritional properties
They have a high energy value and are rich in vitamin C, folic acid, and minerals such as potassium, magnesium, and calcium. They are also rich in other substances called carotenoids, which are responsible for their characteristic orange colour and are known for their antioxidant properties and flavour.
Consuming kumquats helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, degenerative diseases, and even cancer. Because they also increase the absorption of iron from food, they are recommended in cases of iron-deficiency anaemia, accompanying iron-rich foods or iron supplements, as this speeds up recovery.
The kumquat also contains an appreciable amount of dietary fibre, which promotes intestinal transit and is very useful in slimming diets, as it produces a feeling of fullness. It also benefits diabetics, and its citric acid content gives this fruit antiseptic properties for the digestive and urinary tracts.

Tips
In recent years, the demand for “ready-to-eat” avocados has grown, and they are now commonplace in supermarket chains and greengrocers. In order to adapt to market requirements, Provelpack has ripening chambers and offers its customers the option of buying the product before it is ripe.
When buying an avocado, it is necessary to pay attention to the hardness of the fruit. A ripe avocado is one that yields slightly to finger pressure. The skin can also give us clues about its condition: the more ripe it is, the darker it tends to look. If the avocado is already ripe, it should be kept in the refrigerator to halt the ripening process.
Avocados are very popular for using in salads, guacamole, as a garnish for fish, paired with cheese… They have a mild flavour and a fresh, buttery texture that makes them an ideal component of many dishes.
